Biography

Sean McCarthy is a strategic and operationally focused CFO with more than 20 years of providing the leadership required to optimize financial and operational performance for companies in diverse industries including manufacturing, distribution, consumer goods, food & beverage, restaurants and retail.  Sean brings considerable experience with companies going through significant change.  His versatile approach allows him to adapt as needed from high growth to restructuring, leading turnarounds, or finding efficiencies such as optimizing business and operational processes to improve margins.  

Sean has a roll up your sleeves, straight forward management style with extensive experience in financial planning & analysis, corporate accounting, strategic planning, operational analysis, systems implementations and team building experience.  He builds lean finance teams that leverage technology and add strong measurable value to the business every day with a focus on transparency and visibility for management teams, board of directors and ownership.  Sean builds and maintains relationships with staff at all levels of the company as well as key business partners such as auditors, banks, lenders and strategic vendors. He has strong P&L management experience with domestic and international experience, cash flow management, treasury & banking relationships as well as acquisition transaction and integration experience.  He has held responsibility for finance and accounting, information technology, and human resources, but also for operations, product development and sales & marketing. 

Sean holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science in Management from Pepperdine University. In 2010, he received Orange County Business Journal’s CFO of the Year award for the transformation of Diedrich Coffee from sleepy coffeehouse operator to a profitable, high volume consumer package goods company.
