Jim Burk is a partner in the Atlanta practice of Hardesty, LLC. Jim Burk is a CFO with demonstrated financial leadership in public accounting (“Big 4”) and a diverse industry base of public and private companies, including private equity owned acquisition and growth companies. Industry experience includes manufacturing/distribution, consumer products (confectionery and sporting goods) life sciences and recycling. Jim has experience in mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, and post-acquisition integration, ERP selection and implementation. Jim has been a trusted executive team member helping organizations exceed operational and financial goals. Jim is skilled in board presentations and working with lenders. Jim has overseen operations in England, Mexico, Brazil, Malaysia and China.
As CFO for an $80 million private equity owned consumer products manufacturer, he directed all accounting, financial reporting, treasury and risk management functions. He integrated finance functions for a $30 million acquisition and worked with lenders to secure $40 million of financing related to the acquisition. As CFO for a private equity owned specialty chemical manufacturer, he was a member of the executive team that over 8 years grew sales by 105% (11% CAGR) and EBITDA by 394% (26% CAGR). The company sells its products in over 50 countries and operates subsidiaries in England, Mexico, Brazil, Malaysia and China. He was a project lead over 6 teams that generated $1.5 million in cost savings. He was also a project leader overseeing the selection and implementation of a global ERP system. He reduced the time necessary to prepare the monthly consolidated financial statements from 4 weeks to 5 days. He was a member of the new product development team that approved new product concepts and approved the advancement of each product in the development process that lead to 4 patented products. As VP-Finance-Americas managed the finance and accounting functions for the US and Mexican operations. He lead the team that closed the US subsidiary and transitioned the US sales and distribution to a manufacturer in the industry. As VP-Finance was involved in the due diligence for a potential merger with a competitor in the industry. Subsequently, the competitor purchased the company and I oversaw the transition of all accounting, finance, treasury and IT to the new parent company.
Jim holds a MBA in Finance from New York University, BSBA in Accounting from Ohio State University and a CPA.
